Diabetes Education Center
LoCicero Health Diabetes Program is a nationally accredited diabetes education program. The program is accredited by The American Association of Diabetes Educators with the expectation of bringing diabetes education out of the hospital and into the community where the patient is seeking care.
Diabetes education is a collaborative process through which people with, or at risk, for diabetes gain the knowledge and skills needed to modify behavior and successfully self-manage the disease and its related conditions. The program is taught by Certified Diabetes Educators (CDE), Registered Dietitians (RD), and Medical Doctors (MD).
The program’s curriculum put together by our endocrinology and internal medicine team, and taught by our certified diabetes educator will include the following:
- Diabetes Overview
- Acute Complications (hypoglycemia)
- Nutrition
- Chronic Complications-Prevention Detection & Treatment
- Exercise
- Medications & Insulin
- Administration
- Monitoring & Use of Results
- And more…
Classes will be held at LoCicero Medical Group, located at 2605 West Swann Avenue on Wednesdays and Fridays. The program is four weeks in duration. A physician’s referral is required to attend the class. Please see your primary care physician for the referral. The cost of the four week program will be determined by your insurance coverage.
